Isolated Current Sensor with Overload Relay


This is a current sensing device and senses DC as well as AC current flowing through the sensor. The current, in the wire inserted through hole of a sensor, is sensed and analog voltage proportional to the current is available for the user at the output +VO.This output can directly calibrated to indicate actual current flowing through the wire. The current carring wire and the current sensor are galvanically isolated .The module consists a preset to set overload current. The set current is proportional to the voltage set at TP. If the current flowing through the wire exceeds the Overload current set by preset, the Overload Relay gets ON. User can use the potential free contacts of the relay to protect motor or electric equipment.

Function Description and Applications

The QLOG current sensor provides economical and precise solution for both DC and AC current sensing in industrial, commercial and communications systems. AC current measured is rms current. The unique package provides easy implementation without breaking original system and makes current sensing possible. Typical applications include motor control, load detection and management, over-current fault detection & protection and any intelligent power management system etc…
The QLOG current sensor consists of a precise, low-temperature drift linear hall sensor IC with temperature compensation circuit and a diameter 9.0mm through hole. Users can use system’s own electric wire by pass it through this hole to measure passing current. This design allows system designers to monitor any current path without breaking or changing original system layout at all. Any current flowing through this hole will generate a magnetic field which is sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage.
This analog voltage (0-10VDC) is at the output connector. The terminals of the conductive path are electrically isolated from the sensor leads. This allows the current sensor to be used in applications requiring electrical isolation without the use of opto-isolators or other costly isolation techniques and make system more competitive in cost. The current sensor also has a preset to set overload setting. To set overload current precisely, set point voltage is to be set looking voltage at connector TP with respect to GND.
